Thank you for visiting our page for Team Sims!
Our four year old daughter Kiera is a very happy, loving and empathetic little girl. She loves music, anything to do with Frozen, Paw Patrol and all things animals ESPECIALLY her dog Hunter. She is an amazing mama to her "babies" and is always looking out for her baby brother. She loves meeting people, making new friends, and does her best to keep up with her peers. You see, although she looks like a typical little girl, Kiera has Prader-Willi Syndrome. A rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in 15,000 people. This may affect her in the following ways: low muscle tone (hypotonia), cognitive and physical delays, inability to regulate body temperatures and our biggest fear, the inability to feel full, which could potentially lead to life threateing obesity.
For this reason we are taking one SMALL Step to help to raise funds for critical research to help eliminate the challenges of Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).
Funds raised will be used to advance PWS research through the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research Canada. You can learn more about PWS and the research that is underway at http://www.fpwr.ca/research/.
We have hope that one day Kiera and all her friends will LIVE LIFE FULL. With your help and donations, we envision a day where Kiera can be like any other kid, where her limitations aren't dictated by her "special tummy".
